Adult Education Workshop - Sourdough Bread
SOURDOUGH BREAD CLASS
Presented by Jacob Cowgill from Blue Truck Bread in Power
When: Saturday, March 9 from 1 to 5 pm
Where: Power School FCS Room
This class is full with a wait list.
Jacob Cowgil from Blue Truck Bread in Power will show us all the steps to making a loaf of sourdough bread
In this workshop, you will learn the basics of making sourdough bread. Using a simple recipe of flour, water, salt, and sourdough starter, you will learn to mix, ferment, divide, shape, proof, and bake sourdough bread. This class is taught in 4 hours but the whole process actually takes a full day. Though you will learn each stage, there will be dough prepared ahead of time to simulate the full process, much like a cooking show. A $30 fee is due the day of the workshop and covers the cost of a dough scraper, dough divider, a loaf pan, and a banneton (a basket for proofing bread) that you take home with you. You will also take home some starter to kick-start your sourdough baking at home. The class is limited to 8 people. If you need to cancel, please contact Carla Pfeifle (406-868-0980) as soon as possible.
